Sadly not sane..

In the US this week a Walmart employee has been fired for pointing out that christmas is not just a christian celebration, but is actually a "mash up" of a bunch of european traditions.

Bascially, walmart, doing the politically correct thing, dropped "merry christmas" in favour of "happy holidays". This is good.
Unless you're an evangelical american christian, in which case it's bad.
Duly they complained, to which the unnamed walmart employee replied:

"Christmas is actually a continuation of the Siberian shaman and Visigoth traditions,"
"Santa is also borrowed from the [Caucasus], mistletoe from the Celts, yule log from the Goths, the time from the Visigoth and the tree from the worship of Baal. It is a wide wide world,"

The catholics (who im not really a fan of..) organised a boycott of walmart who of course, responded by firing said employee.

So here's an organization that tells you:
  • If you dont join you'll be punished with eternal damnation (a lie),
  • that if you don't respect their annexation of the traditional winter festivals, they'll boycott you,
  • and that their right to not being offended by the truth out weighs your right to free speech and indeed, employment.

    Happy holidays.

It is time to speak up.

It is time to speak up. It is time to say that facts are what matter, not faith, that human progress is accomplished through unfettered use of reason and inquiry and tolerance and discussion and debate, not through intolerant and irrational acts of terror or edicts. For all of our children and for the future, speak up against this wave of intolerance and irrationalism washing over the world.
